About

Solace

A nude series created by photographer & founder of Women in FashionDaisy Walker, as a means of processing past traumas whilst igniting a new-found power in the body.

All proceeds will go directly to Solace Womens Aid; a charity offering free counselling & support to survivors of domestic abuse and rape.

A deeply personal project, the series looked to re-envision the nude body as a site of quiet strength, displacing it from its typical positioning as sexual object through gentle grace.

The series is a glorification of the body, standing in testament to the pride and love Walker has worked hard to rebuild in her own body that has been abused. Through shooting close friends and fellow members of Women in Fashion, all of whom have supported Walker through her growth, the images stand in solidarity with victims of sexual abuse - a photographic representation of each body in the crowd in a protest march. Each participant was allowed freedom in their movements, showing intimacy can be regained after violence. Walker hopes that the images might provide solace to others who have experienced bodily violation, in the way that Solace Women's Aid supported her when she was in need.
